Do caterpillars grow?
Of course they do; ours is no exception. It constantly matures, adding new "segments" to the list and the support for the newly released firmware versions. And of course, our subscribers get all the updates absolutely free. The goal of the green fella is to keep you happy — see for yourself how well it does it.
2.0 (September 4, 2008)
- All Components:
- First release for firmware 2.0. Can be installed from the repository http://i.ripdev.com/ using Installer 4.
- All included components reworked to work under 2.0.x with the same functionality. We will expand on the featureset soon.
- Existing subscriptions will work; you can also request a trial or check your subscription by visiting Settings > RiP Dev > RiP Dev Products preference pane.
- EQ:
- This component will not be supported under firmware 2.0 due to significant changes in the audio subsystem.
- Uninstall:
- This component is not yet supported (will be included in the next version).
1.3.1 (June 25, 2008)
- All Components:
- This is a last version that is being released for firmware 1.1.x. All future releases will work only under OS X 2.0 and newer.
- Mobile Enhancer:
- New version works around the incompatibility issues with numerous products that have daemon applications that use UIKit, such as Dock, Screenshot, and others.
- Smart Dialer:
- Better detection of numbers prefixed with GSM codes.
- Several fixes for better detection of numbers.
- Fixed a potential crash when making a call while engaged in another phone call.
- Settings:
- FaceLift:
- Fixed some potential problems while using themes.
- Reminder:
- Fixed a potential crash when all notifications are turned off.
- EQ:
- To conform to the rules, EQ module only works when the iPod EQ is turned on in the Settings.
- No longer affects the ringtones because some of them were awfully distorted.
1.3 (May 5, 2008)
- All Components:
- Due to a legal dispute with Caterpillar, Inc., the name of the product is changed to Kate.
- EQ (new component):
- New component: three-band equalizer for the iPod application — you are no longer limited by the default EQ presets.
- µCalendar:
- Added an option to enable or disable birthdays from the contacts list (as Outlook duplicates them).
- All-day events for the next day are now properly displayed as the next day.
- Privacy:
- Added the night mode setting to disable incoming calls and SMS messages sounds during the specified interval.
- Reminder:
- Reminder no longer produces notifications during a phone call.
1.2.1 (Apr 8, 2008)
- All Components:
- Workaround for a problem causing product authorization issues after using Zibri's Wi-Fi Fix.
- Added German localization, courtesy of Ralf Rögner.
- Smart Dialer:
- FaceLift:
- Added an option to control the icon label text color.
- Added an option to disable the icon label text.
- Fixed an issue with Videos and Music icons displayed incorrectly on the iPod touch.
- Theme developers: now colors can be specified in web format like #CCEE1D instead of cryptic R,G,B,A entries (see the specification).
- µCalendar:
- Added support for birthdays from the Contacts. The birthdays will appear like the regular events but with a "flower" symbol.
- All-day events for the current day are now displayed as "Today" instead of a blank rectangle.
1.2 (Mar 24, 2008)
- All Components:
- Added an option to turn on the Apple built-in screenshotter.
- Uninstall (new component):
- Uninstalls software installed with Installer.app directly from SpringBoard by clicking the remove button in the rearrange icons mode (1.1.3 and newer only). AppTapp.framework used with permission from Nullriver Inc.
- FaceLift:
- Added SummerBoard themes support. What's different from SummerBoard implementation:
- All themes created for SummerBoard are compatible with FaceLift;
- Theme author can add additional info in the theme file to customize (developer documentation):
- Icon label background color;
- Icon label background border color;
- Icon label background border thickness and curvature;
- Icon label font and color;
- Separate font color for the icon label when it's in the Dock;
- Calendar icon: date text font, position, shadow parameters;
- Calendar icon: weekday text font, position, shadow parameters.
More options are planned for the future releases of Kate. Themes will remain backwards compatible with SummerBoard, but the customization features will only be available for FaceLift.
- Custom badges in the theme are supported.
- Localization will no longer prevent custom application icons to be applied from the theme.
- Added an option to dim the SpringBoard background.
- Few tweaks to the look of the reflexive Dock so it looks better.
- µCalendar:
- Slightly changed the display of the upcoming events: now shows the day of the week instead of +1 etc.
- Fixed an issue with the event time not displaying correctly because of time zones.
1.1.1 (Mar 12, 2008)
- Installer:
- Kate can now be uninstalled completely by unchecking all the components and hitting Apply in the Kate.app
- Fixed an issue with the disappearing licenses under some jailbreaks.
- Added the license agreement.
- Smart Dialer:
- Fixed an issue with the keypad disappearing when some non-English languages are selected.
1.1 (Mar 7, 2008)
- All Components:
- Ability to request a trial to try out the product for a few days for free.
- Improved the installer.
- Small fixes and tweaks on all the components.
- µCalendar:
- Recurring events are now supported;
- Ability to select default mode: events or calendar;
- Ability to turn off mode switching by clicking, so you can only see events or calendar;
- The events for up to the next 7 days are displayed now (but no more than 7 on the screen);
- The events view is wider now;
- Fixed a visual glitch with a light line on the bottom of the calendar;
- Fixed a bug with the volume slider not functioning in the iPod control mode.
- FaceLift:
- 5-icons Dock support for firmware 1.1.3 and newer;
- Ability to turn enable Reflective Dock;
- Ability to turn off Dock background;
- Ability to make status bar opaque;
- Dark faceplates for the icon titles (nice for light backgrounds).
- Privacy:
- Ability to hide only the message text or both the sender and the text in the addition to the "standard" options.
- Reminder:
- The phone is only waking up to make a notification to conserve the battery.
- Smart Dialer:
- Ability to dial a number from the Smart Dialer (including the plus sign, and */# symbols);
- Improved the search speed;
- Ability to choose the keypad language;
- Added an option to include the region code when searching for phone numbers;
- Added an option to delay the search until the designated number of characters is entered;
- Vibration is only done for 0.5 seconds per key press instead of the entire duration.
1.0v2 (Feb 29, 2008)
This is an update aimed primarily at the compatibility with the newly released firmware 1.1.4. The components themselves did not change, but Kate will now install and function under the new firmware. Keep an eye peeled for the features update coming soon!
