Where is Caterpillar?

May 5, 2007 - Lausanne, Switzerland - KMK Research announces an update to its premier collection of tools for the iPhone formerly known as Caterpillar and a product name change. Due to a legal dispute with Caterpillar, Inc, the new name of the package is Kate.

Because Caterpillar, Inc, the makers of heavy machinery have demanded the name Caterpillar is infringing their copyright (apparently the bulldozers have their own operating system named the same way!), RiP Dev, the makers of the most advanced commercial collection of tools for the iPhone, have decided to settle the conflict in a peaceful way and change the name to Kate. The name Kate resembles a Russian female name Katya, which is a signature name for many Russians (and RiP Dev, having Russian roots, wholeheartedly thinks you will like the new name).

Other than the name change, the new version, 1.3, brings a new module called EQ which is available free to all subscribers. The module allows to specify custom audio presets for the iPod using the three-band equalizer system.

The new update also brings a slew of bug fixes and the night mode feature allowing you to specify the time interval for which the sounds of the incoming calls and SMS messages will be muted.

RiP Dev is a service mark of KMK Research Sarl, a private company domiciled in Lausanne, Switzerland. Kate (formerly Caterpillar) is a subscription-based collection of various tools & toys for the iPhone which has acclaimed numerous awards and won a special place in the heart for thousands of iPhone users worldwide.
